Great 1TB portable hard drive that fits in your pocket!

(score 5/5)

Great red design, so small that it fits in your pocket, easy to use. Whoever has lots of music, videos, data, you will sooner or later need this. Why go for less capacity when you will end up needing more? I'd rather have one portable external hard drive than 2-3.

Love it.

(score 5/5)

This thing is perfect! Size of a pack of cards. Very quiet. Fast.

I don't use the sofetware that came with it though. Without clicking on anything to let it install, I moved it to a subdirectory in case I every need it in the future.

No installation. I just plugged the drive into the USB port and it showed right up in Windows Explore (Vista) as another drive. I just highlight and copy in the files I want to backup.

Some others have complained that it cannot use a standard USB cable, only the one it comes with. I tried mine with another USB cable and it worked fine.

Very Nice.

(score 5/5)

I was skeptical of buying a Toshiba HD as I have always bought Seagate or Western Digital. The price was excellent and the previous ratings were good. I am glad I bought this product. It is very quiet and works extremely well. I am a Mac use and other than creating a new MacOS partition this was very easy to work with like it should be.

I have had this product for 3 weeks now. I hope it lasts.

Never worked

(score 1/5)

I purchased this as an Amazon "Deal of the Day". It had an attractively low price, otherwise I would have purchased a Seagate drive. This Toshiba hard drive never worked. It was defective right out of the box. I tried it on three different computers, and also had my IT consultant check it out. He confirmed that even though the power light went on, the drive was bad. Toshiba's customer support is terrible. It was impossible to get through to them. Thankfully, Amazon has superb customer service, and allowed me to return the drive. I purchased another Seagate FreeAgent Go. I have several of the Seagate FreeAgent Go drives, and they have all proved to be reliable. As an additional plus, the Seagate FreeAgent Go that I purchased was recognized by my son's MacBook Pro without any problem. This Toshiba Canvio drive was a waste of time and some money. Toshiba's poor quality control and customer support have turned me off to that company. I currently own, in addition to several other computers, four Toshiba Tablet PC notebooks and two standard Toshiba notebooks. When it becomes time to replace those six computers, I will not bother shopping for Toshiba again.
