Lip gloss

Lipstick

Lipstick is a cosmetic product used to apply color and texture to the lips. It usually comes in solid form and is usually distributed as a stick. It contains pigments, oils, waxes and emollients.

Lip gloss

Lip gloss is a cosmetic product used mainly to give the lips a gloss, and will usually have some subtle color as well. It is distributed mostly as a liquid and sometimes as a soft solid. It can be translucent, have a subtle color or create a wet, metallic, frosted or glittered look.

Sheerness

Some lipsticks have a metallic or sheer effect to them.

However, lipsticks are not normally used to achieve sheerness, and are therefore generally less sheer and shiny than the average lip gloss.
If you want to go for the glamorous look and add sheer to your lips, then lip gloss is your product.

For an even more dramatic effect, the lip gloss can be applied on top of your favorite lipstick color, so you have both the color and the glittery shiny effect.

Plump Lips Effect

The short answer is - not at all. A lipstick will not give your lips the plump effect, but you can make them more noticeable with it.
Some new types of lip gloss contain plumpers or plumping products, which make the lips appear fuller.

If you have thinner lips or just want to create a plump look for your lips, go for the lip gloss. The shiny effect of the lip gloss also contributes towards a more luscious look.

The effect, however, is temporary and short lasting. If you already have naturally very full lips, the lip gloss may be a bit of an overkill.

Moisture

The newer lipstick products in the market contain moisturizers.

Some lipsticks also contain sunscreens. Still, many people believe that a lipstick makes the lips feel dry and flaky.
Lip gloss products, by their composition, normally contain more moisture than the regular lipstick.

Some lip gloss products also contain sunscreen.

Low Stickiness

There are no real issues around stickiness with lipsticks.

Unlike the lip gloss, a lipstick is not sticky at all, and does not effect your hair, eating, drinking or kissing.
One of the greatest disadvantages of the lip gloss is its stickiness.

This is especially notorious when a gust of wind makes your hair stick to your lips. Lip gloss also has other disadvantages when it comes to eating or drinking, and may stain cups.

Although your lips may look plumper and more luscious, some men find lip-gloss wearing women less kissable because of the stickiness effect.

Long Lasting

Some lipsticks contain long lasting formulas, that promise to keep the color on lips from the time you apply them in the morning until you go to bed at night.

These lipsticks are supposed to stay put while you eat, drink, go to the gym, shower or kiss - and still provide all the moisture your lips need.

Whether or not the lipstick survives your busy daily schedule, it will usually stay on longer than any lip gloss.

In general, if you don't have the time or just don't like re-applying your lip product very often, you should opt for a lipstick.
There are many brands of long-lasting lip glosses in the market, that also contain moisturizers and protection to the lips.

These brands promise an all day long gloss on your lips. Some of the products, however, may be stickier than others, and they will generally not last for as long as the long-lasting lipsticks.

Flavor

There is a large variety of flavored lipsticks to choose from.

You may even find a coffee flavored brand that contains actual caffeine! However, the flavor component appears to be less common in lipsticks than in lip glosses.
Most lip glosses sold today have a flavor added to them.

The flavor is usually sweet - sugary or fruity, but can also be minty or spicy.

Food and beverages flavors such as popcorn, gum, candy floss, ice cream or soda pops are also quite popular, and let you treat yourself a little.

Easy to Apply

A lipstick takes some time and effort to apply.

Usually, lipstick users want to achieve a more dramatic or made-up look, and are likely to spend more time on their makeup. Some women also like to use a lip liner with their lipstick.

Applying lipstick without a mirror is likely to give the user a clown-face or leave lipstick stains on their teeth.
Applying a lip gloss is pretty easy.

Whether you use a brush, your fingertips or another applicator that comes with your lip gloss tube, applying a lip gloss is a piece of cake, and a mirror is not normally required.

Color Intensity

A lipstick provides a solid and rich lip color with a creamy smooth feel to it.

The richness and texture of the color work to create a more made-up and sophisticated look.

It is also possible to achieve a casual look with a subtle, natural-toned lipstick.
A lip gloss contains less pigments than lipstick, and therefore provides a more subtle look.

The subtlety is good for adding only that bit of color rather than the intense solid lip color effect that a lipstick usually creates.

Since lip gloss contains less pigments than a lipstick, it is usually considered to create a more casual, natural and subtle look.

Dark

(Score 5/5)

This product is dark, but not quite black - unless you put layers of it on. It has a purplish hue, so I wonder if maybe it was dyed with berries or something... in any case, it will look black eventually if you keep applying it. It doesn't chap your lips; in fact, it feels quite good as it moisturizes. I will probably buy this kind of lipstick again, because it is good quality. It doesn't have a cheap smell to it like some other lipstick products I've tried, which is a big plus.

BEAUTIFUL GLOSS!!

(Score 5/5)

This gloss is the perfect gloss if you are wanting a long-lasting, high-pigmented gloss. I was a little unsure about paying $24.00 for a lipgloss...but since this gloss does not have to be applied frequently, it has the lifespan of about 2 tubes of other gloss. It also comes in a larger tube (larger than MOST drugstore glosses) which is great! GREAT MAKEUP INVESTMENT!!!
